GAINESVILLE -- The Chestatee girls soccer team clinched the No. 2 seed in Region 8-AAAA with a 7-0 shutout victory over Monroe Area Friday night at War Eagle Stadium.
Senior forward Sadie Foote had a huge night for the Lady War Eagles (11-5, 6-2 Region 8-AAAA) tallying five goals. Senior Heydi Acosta set up Foote with three assists. Nina Burgess and Liz Godinez secured the other two goals for Chestatee. Stacey Mendoza and Burgess had one assist apiece.
Senior keeper Tyler Bennett recorded the shutout with three saves in goal. Mary Ashley Easterwood, Stephanie Chavez, and Hope Baxter helped secure the shutout with solid defensive play.
Chestatee wraps up its regular season with a pair of matches next week playing host to Athens Academy on Tuesday and then hitting the road in the season-finale at Franklin County on Wednesday.
