North Georgia's holiday calendar is chock full of great events for Christmas and the New Year!

Mingle with Kringle
10 a.m. - 3 p.m, Main Street Market, Downtown Gainesville
Santa will be on the Square to get all the last-minute requests! Visit Santa inside the Main Street Market. Be sure to leave your note in the special North Pole Express Delivery Mailbox!

 
Friday, December 11
 
*City of Oakwood's Annual Christmas Celebration
5:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. at Oakwood Park
Start your Holiday Season off with fun, food, fellowship and the sound of Christmas music performed by live choirs and groups. There will be hamburgers, hotdogs, marshmallows, hot chocolate, cookies, popcorn and pictures with Santa all for FREE. Please consider donating a non-perishable food item for the South Hall Food Pantry (drop off will be under the large pavilion.)
 
Saturday, December 12
 
*Crocker Pottery Christmas Kiln Opening
11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Contemporary and antique folk pottery on display and for sale. Feature exhibit with work by Edwin "Nub" Meaders (1921-2015). Crocker Pottery is located 6361 West County Line Road in Lula and is one of the few remaining old-time folk pottery shops in America.
 
*Annual Christmas Parade
2 p.m. Downtown Helen
Celebrate Christmas with the annual parade in Downtown Helen
 
*A Downtown Clarkesville Christmas
6 - 8 p.m.
Visit Santa, watch the tree lighting, enjoy some holiday music, "A Puppet Christmas Carol," and a Children's Nativity Pageant. More here.
 
December 12, 13
 
*Journey to Bethlehem
6 to 8 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church
This event draws more than 2,000 people as they drive through Journey to Bethlehem at Corinth Baptist Church's Gainesville campus. Watch the Christmas story come alive! Free admission.
 
Sunday, December 13
 
*Bells of Christmas
4 p.m. at Sharp Memorial Methodist Church in Young Harris
The Brasstown Ringers present their Bells of Christmas Concert. The concert is free with a good will offering at the end of the program and includes music that will appeal to the young and the young-at-heart.
 
December 11 - 13
 
*Charity Lane
5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Over 20 charities and homeowners have decked the halls on a seven mile stretch filled with Christmas lights! Get in the spirit with a drive through Wolffork Valley in Rabun Gap - route begins at Highway 441 at Wolffork Road. Stop by the Wolffork Baptist Church for caroling and hot cocoa. Suggested donation is $10 per car. All proceeds support local charities to help the people of Rabun County. Also a Toys for Tots drop off location!
 
*Christmas Shop
6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Dillard United Methodist Church
Crafts, gifts and baked goods for sale after you finish your tour of Charity Lane in the Fellowship Hall and over 100 nativity scenes on display throughout the church. All funds support local charities to help the people of Rabun County.
 
Monday, December 21
 
*Smithgall Snowman
11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Join Smithgall in holiday craft fun! Come to the Visitor’s Center to decorate your very own Smithgall Snowman. Choose your own, pre-dried, stones from Dukes Creek for making your snowman and decorate him with an assortment of craft supplies.  Limit 15.Call the Visitor's Center for reservations & information at (706) 878-3087. $3/child and $5 parking fee or Annual Parking Pass
 
Wednesday, December 23
 
*Animal Adaptations 
11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Smithgall Woods
Use your holiday break to do something fun for everyone and learn about Georgia's native and non-native mammals, and the adaptations that help them survive in the wild. Interpretive Specialist, Kathy Church will be giving a 1-hour presentation utilizing real furs and skulls for demonstration.   Cost: $5 parking pass. Limit 20.
