By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor

The soggy weather that has had its grip on north Georgia for two weeks has produced more than seven inches of rain in Gainesville and the level of Lake Lanier is now up more than two feet.  And, forecasters say more rain can be expected this week.

Rainfall through midnight Saturday at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville totaled 7.56 inches in the past week and 8.84 inches over the past two weeks.  Since this time last week, the level of Lanier has risen 2.1 feet and was to 1069.36 as of 9:00 Saturday morning.

Over the past two weeks, there have been only two days without measurable rainfall at Lee Gilmer.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says more showers are expected this week.  Forecasters say Gainesville and other parts of northeast Georgia could pick up another 1.3 inches of rain by Tuesday morning. Click here http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ffc/ for further information.
