NGCF awards grants to 11 NE Ga. groups

GAINESVILLE - The North Georgia Community Foundation has awarded $24,500 in Community Impact Grants to 11 nonprofit organizations in northeast Georgia. These grants help fund programs designed to improve the quality of life in the north Georgia region.
 
The Dawson County Wee Books Program, the Place of Forsyth County, the Ark Family Preservation Center, Freedom Hill Recovery Home for Women, Challenged Child & Friends, Center Point, Family Ties, Jackson County Habitat for Humanity, No One Alone, Enotah Anti-Drug Association and Northeast Georgia CASA received Community Impact Grants this year.
 
Dawson County Wee Books Program received $2,000 to purchase books to provide children in the program with a free book once a month until their fifth birthday. The Place of Forsyth County will use its $1,200 grant to buy fresh produce and meat to be added to their food pantry distribution.
 
The Ark Family Preservation Center will purchase equipment and educational resources for classes and support groups with its $1,600 grant. Freedom Hill Recovery Home for Women received $3,000 for its scholarship fund to provide financial assistance for women participating in the 12-month residential treatment program.
 
Challenged Child & Friends will use its $3,000 grant to purchase equipment to expand their therapy programs and improve the quality of the motor and sensory room activities. Center Point received a $3,000 grant for the SPEED team at Gainesville High School.
 
Family TIES received a $2,500 grant for its parenting programs to reach more families and provide more class sessions. Jackson County Habitat for Humanity will use its $2,500 grant for its Brush with Kindness home repair program to fund home repair projects for homeowners over 60 years of age.
 
No One Alone will improve its playground area for children and mothers who are residents at the shelter with its $2,500 grant.  Enotah Anti-Drug Coalition plans to launch a program to send volunteers into "at-risk" neighborhoods to conduct after-school programs with its $3,000 grant. Northeast Georgia CASA’s $1,800 grant is co-funded by Community Impact funding a grant from a donor advised fund at NGCF and will provide for the  screening and training new CASA volunteers.
 
The Community Impact Grants are available annually to classified 501(c)3 tax-exempt organizations in the 15-county north Georgia region including Banks, Dawson, Fannin, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Jackson, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union and White counties. The Foundation awards grants between $1,500 and $3,000 through this program.
