Softball: North Hall clinches 8-AAAA title game berth

DANIELSVILLE — North Hall softball will play for the Region 8-AAAA title after sweeping Madison County in two games in the 8-AAAA tournament on Thursday in Danielsville.

The Lady Trojans (20-7) edged Madison 1-0 in Game 1 and then pounded Madison 12-4 in Game 2 and will face Buford at 1:30 p.m. Saturday for the region crown in Buford.

North Hall's Kendyl Chase and Madison's Kelsey Wood dueled to a near standstill in Game 1. Chase threw a one hit shutout with six strikeouts and no walks, while Wood gave up one run on one hit with four strikeouts and one walk.  The difference in the game was Niki Carver's solo home run in the fourth inning.  It was Carver's seventh home run on the season.

The Lady Trojans avoided a close battle in Game 2, pounding out 11 hits en route to the victory. North Hall scored three runs in the first inning provided by hits from Chase (4 for 4, 1 RBI), Carver (1 for 3, 2 RBI, 2 runs), and Carson McCormack (2 for 4, 1 RBI , 1 run). The Lady Trojans scored six more runs in the third inning to put the game out of reach. Chase, Ashley Goines (1 for 4, 1 RBI, 1 run),  and Logan Savage (2 for 4, 1 RBI, 2 runs) had run scoring hits during the inning. North Hall finished the game up with two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth.  Camilla Howell scored three runs while Ashlyn Brewster contributed 2 RBI, 1 run, and 1 stolen base.  Kailee Dyer and Carson Negley also scored runs for the Lady Trojans.

Chase earned her 16th and 17th victories of the season by pitching both games in the doubleheader.
