HEMC reports 12,030 outages as of 9:30 p.m. Sunday

CLARKESVILLE - Habersham Electric Membership Corp. has updated its outage numbers to 12,030 as of. 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Nicole Dover, director of marketing and communications for HEMC, said out-of-town crews have arrived and, along with all HEMC employees, will work diligently through the night to restore power to members as they're able.

Full power restoration is not expected until sometime Tuesday as this is a major outage event.

Members are asked to report continued outages via phone: (706) 754-2114, (706) 865-4362, (800) 640-6812; or online at habershamemc.com.

The outage system matches the account locations to phone numbers, so if calling from a different number, members should input the one associated with the affected account.

Outages should not be reported by social media as those channels are not monitored around the clock.

Dover urges people not to try to “help” by clearing trees from downed lines. Treat all lines as if they are energized and avoid the area. Report them immediately to HEMC.
