One person killed, another injured in two separate left turn accidents in Gwinnett County

BUFORD - One person was seriously injured and another was killed in two separate accidents Thursday in Gwinnett County

According to Gwinnett County Police Cpl. Michele Pihera, the first accident occurred on Buford Drive when the driver of a Toyota Camry turned  left towards Plunketts Road, in front of an eastbound tractor-trailer

The driver of the Toyota suffered serious injuries and was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center.

Pihera said alcohol and speed were not contributing factors and charges maybe be filed at a later date.

Later, a similar accident occurred on Jimmy Carter Boulevard at Hunters Club Lane in the evening. A motorcycle, driven by 26-year-old Moeez Ul Haq Alvi of Lilburn, collided with a Nissan when the vehicle turned in front of the motorcycle.

Pihera said Alvi was killed in the crash, and the driver of the Nissan, 48 year old Wanda Berry, faces vehicular homicide and failure to yield while turning left. She was transported to the Gwinnett County Jail.
