Caterpillar plans to close its foundry plant in Toccoa which employs 125 people. The plant's work will be moved to the company's Mapleton, Illinois, foundry. <br />
Meanwhile, a Caterpillar factory in Franklin, N.C., that that makes seals for heavy equipment is closing by the end of next year, leaving 150 people without jobs. <br />
Franklin Mayor Bob Scott says the town learned about the closing of the plant Thursday. <br />
Caterpillar says it will try to help workers find jobs at other factories and will pay severance packages.
