Paulding Co. sheriff's deputy among the dead in triple murder-suicide

By The Associated Press
DOUGLASVILLE, Ga. (AP) -- Paulding County sheriff's officials say one of the department's corporals was killed in a triple murder-suicide.

Sheriff's spokesman Ashley Henson said Tuesday that 52-year-old Cpl. Sam Driskell was found fatally shot along with his wife, daughter and stepson. Henson says investigators believe Driskell's 21-year-old stepson Felix Almonte shot Driskell, his 36-year-old mother Muachien Driskell and his 12-year-old stepsister Carolyn Driskell.

Sheriff Gary Gulledge says Driskell was asleep when he was shot in his head. Gulledge says Driskell's holster was empty when deputies arrived at his home and the gun he was shot with was the same as his service weapon. Gulledge says investigators have not yet moved the weapon.

Henson says Driskell worked with the department for roughly 10 years and was part of the crimes against children unit.
