Hall Co. man long-associated with ag education in state dies

GAINESVILLE - The funeral for Dr. Jack Lancaster, a former head of Extension Education at the University of Georgia College of Agriculture, will be held Saturday.<br /> <br /> Dr. Lancaster, who was 90, died Wednesday.<br /> <br /> Lancaster grew up in the Belmont community in South Hall and was living there when he died.<br /> <br /> His career in Extension Education included stints as county agent in Union, Towns and Catoosa counties. Dr. Lancaster ultimately became director of Extension Education in the College of Agriculture at the University of Georgia.<br /> <br /> He was a past president of the National Association of Adult Educators and was active in the Hall County Retired Teachers Association and numerous other Civic and Professional societies.<br /> <br /> He was a longtime faithful member, Sunday School teacher and deacon of Belmont Baptist Church. <br /> <br /> The funeral will be at 11:00 Saturday at Belmont Baptist Church.<br /> <br /> (A complete obituary can be found on the AccessNorthGa.com Obituaries Page.)
