FLOWERY BRANCH - No one was hurt as a mid-morning fire caused heavy damage to a garage in Flowery Branch Tuesday.
Hall County Fire Marshal Scott Cagle said the remainder of the 1800 square foot two-story rental house on Deer Ridge Court sustained smoke damage. He said damage estimates were between $175,000 and $65,000.
Cagle said it appears the fire started on the back wall of the garage. Investigators believe it was accidental.
One person was home at the time of the 9:06 a.m. fire.
An intergovernmental agreement that has been in consideration for four years that would bring turn lanes and new pavement to the intersection of McEver Road and Gainesville Street is going to wait, at least for now.
