Habersham Co. man is new commander of GSP in NE Ga.

ATLANTA - Keith Canup of Habersham County has been appointed commander of Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Troop B. <br /> <br /> Troop B is comprised of patrol posts in Athens, Blue Ridge, Cumming, Gainesville, Hartwell and Toccoa and covers 20 northeastern counties. It is headquartered in Athens.<br /> <br /> Capt. Canup began his career with the state Department of Public Safety in April of 1991. His career assignments have included a stint at the State Patrol post in Gainesville.<br /> <br /> In 2008, Canup was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned as the Executive Officer of Administrative Services at DPS Headquarters in Atlanta. He held that position until his recent appointment as commander of Troop B which was effective August 1.
