LILBURN, Ga. (AP) Gwinnett County police say a 73-year-old woman shot through a door and wounded suspected burglar as he approached her bedroom.
Police spokesman Jake Smith said Thursday that the woman called 911 when she heard glass breaking at her back door and fired through her bedroom door when she saw a flashlight shining on the other side.
Smith says the suspect, identified as Jamie Christopher Lewis, took himself to the Eastside Medical Center and was suffering from a non-life threatening wound to his chest. Smith says a Snellville Police officer called Gwinnett County police when he noticed the man had been shot.
Lewis is charged with burglary.
Barrow County Emergency Services were kept busy over Super Bowl weekend by a series of structure and vehicle fires throughout the county, two of which were determined to be intentional human acts according to a Sunday afternoon press release.
