GAINESVILLE - One day after a traffic accident in the Clermont area, an 80-year-old Gainesville man has died, apparently from injuries he suffered in the single vehicle crash.
According to an accident report from the Georgia State Patrol, George Emory Bell, Sr., was driving southbound on Cleveland Highway just before 9 a.m. Tuesday. The report said Bell either suffered a medical emergency or fell asleep and drove off the shoulder of the highway near Clarks Bridge Road.
He then over-corrected and traveled off the roadway, striking an embankment, a tree and a house.
Bell was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with what appeared to be a head injury, according to the report.
Bell died Wednesday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
