GAINESVILLE - Stormy weather than moved through parts of Hall County Monday night and Tuesday morning left behind some downed trees but there have been no reports of structural damage or injuries.<br />
"We had a few trees down around Joe Chandler East Hall area," Hall County Emergency Management Agency Director David Kimbrell said Tuesday morning.<br />
Gainesville Fire Department spokesman Keith Smith said "I understand there were some downed trees in the Brenau area and there was a downed power pole at the intersection of Washington Street and Main Street."<br />
Rainfall overnight Monday at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport was .29 inches. The top wind gust at the airport during the storms was 39 miles-an-hour.
To help reduce the risk of child drownings, especially among minorities, the USA Swimming Foundation has set the goal of teaching 800,000 children to swim this year at more than 725 locations around the country, including one in Gainesville.
