GAINESVILLE - Gainesville Police said two female victims, both adults, suffered gunshot wounds during an incident at Atlanta Street Apartments around 3:00 p.m. Friday.

Gainesville Police Corporal Kevin Holbrook said both victims were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, one in apparent critical condition.

"We were given a description of an individual believed to be a suspect. Officers were able to gather in the area. Shortly after that, a deputy with the Hall County Sheriff's Office was able to locate a possible suspect," Holbrook said.

He said that suspect was taken into custody without incident

Holbrook said officers initially located the victims outside of the apartments close to an apartment with a large crowd.

"Of course, we had to deal with that leading into the investigation," Holbrook said.

He said the large crowd gives investigators a number of people to talk with, prolonging the initial investigation.

He said the number of gunshot wounds the victims suffered is unknown.

"They did appear to be shot in the upper torso area. That's currently the only information we have as far as related to their injuries," Holbrook said.
The suspect and victim names have not been released.
