WASHINGTON (AP) -- U.S. military officials say an armed American drone has attacked and destroyed a mortar position of Islamic militants in northern Iraq.<br />
The U.S. Central Command issued a brief statement saying the Tuesday morning attack targeted a mortar position that was firing on members of the Kurdish militia who were defending civilians attempting to evacuate the Sinjar area.<br />
No other details were immediately available.
