Gwinnett police say shots fired at officer

NORCROSS - The Gwinnett County Police Department is trying to piece together a Sunday night shooting incident where a suspect fired a number of shots at an officer who was on patrol in the Norcross area.<br /> <br /> According to a press statement, the incident happened around 10:20 p.m. on Dawson Boulevard at Graves Road when an officer tried to stop a speeding vehicle. When the officer caught up to the vehicle and activated his blue lights, he said someone inside the sedan fire several shots in his direction.<br /> <br /> The vehicle sped away and the officer lost contact with the car.<br /> <br /> Shortly after the shots were fired, police said another officer made contact with what they believed was the suspect vehicle near Sienna Heights Apartments on Graves Road. The driver of the vehicle was arrested on traffic charges, but according to the statement, police are unsure if the driver was involved in the shooting.<br /> <br /> Investigators reported they found shell casings in the area of the first traffic stop attempt.<br /> <br /> The statement indicated that the officer was not hurt in the incident.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
