ATLANTA - The run-off between Mike Buck and Richard Woods for the Republican nomination for Georgia school superintendent is headed for a recount.<br />
Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp's office reports that Buck has requested a recount of all votes in the Republican Primary Runoff held last week.<br />
Officials said the recount will be held and completed no later than noon on Thursday.<br />
The 53-year-old former Rome High School principal fell within the one percent threshold required for him to be eligible to request a recount following the inclusion of provisional ballots in the total.<br />
Buck trails Woods by 713 votes.
The Union County Fire Department in northeast Georgia said that the pilot who was killed in a plane crash Thursday in Pickens County was a volunteer firefighter who had serve with the department for more than a year and a half.
A number of college students who are not U.S. citizens are appealing a Georgia Court of Appeals decision that upheld the dismissal of their lawsuit by a Fulton County judge. The students are seeking a decision that they are entitled to in-state tuition at Georgia’s colleges and universities.
