ATLANTA - The run-off between Mike Buck and Richard Woods for the Republican nomination for Georgia school superintendent is headed for a recount.
Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp's office reports that Buck has requested a recount of all votes in the Republican Primary Runoff held last week.
Officials said the recount will be held and completed no later than noon on Thursday.
The 53-year-old former Rome High School principal fell within the one percent threshold required for him to be eligible to request a recount following the inclusion of provisional ballots in the total.
Buck trails Woods by 713 votes.
The FBI has called for all law enforcement to be vigilant about potential terrorist activity over the Fourth of July weekend, and Georgia officials are heeding the call, though they say there's been no evidence of any threat so far.
