A Cornelia man was seriously hurt in a wreck Wednesday morning.
CORNELIA - The Georgia State Patrol has released details of a wreck that seriously injured a Cornelia man Wednesday morning.

Trooper 1st Class Casey Coffee of GSP Post 7 in Toccoa said the single-vehicle wreck happened at 8:08 a.m. on Duncan Bridge Road north of Pea Ridge Road.

Coffee said a 2000 Chevrolet GMT 400 pickup driven by 28-year-old Corey Benjamin Tallant of Cornelia was traveling north on Georgia 384 (Duncan Bridge Road) at the time of the wreck.

Tallant was negotiating a curve when the truck traveled off the road onto the east shoulder, crossed over Copperhead Road and he overcorrected to the left, Coffee said.

The truck then began to overturn, coming to rest on its passenger side facing west, blocking both southbound lanes, Coffee said.

Tallant, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected, Coffee said

A Habersham County ambulance rushed Tallant to the trauma center at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he underwent surgery.

Duncan Bridge Road was shut down between the White County line and Pea Ridge Road until 9:35 a.m., sheriff's officers said.
