Gainesville resident Sophie McLeod recently won the 2014 Georgia Water Ski Championships. <br />
The competition took place at Cauble Park on Lake Acworth, July 12-13. <br />
A rising eighth-grade student at Lakeview Academy, McLeod skis in the Girls 2 division. <br />
McLeod, who has trained in the sport for years, is a member of Crow's Lake Ski Club in Jefferson and the Mountain View Ski Club in Toccoa.
