GA group concerned with selection in Ralston probe

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA (AP) A watchdog group is concerned with the person the Georgia Supreme Court chose to investigate House Speaker David Ralston.

WSB-TV reported Wednesday that leaders of Common Cause Georgia are concerned over the Georgia Supreme Court choosing Mark Dehler to investigate Ralston because of contributions Dehler made to Ralston's campaign in the past.

Dehler says about $750 out of $34,000 in campaign contributions he's made in the past decade have gone to Ralston. Ryan Splitlog of Common Cause Georgia says the appointment still raises a public trust issue.

Dehler told the television station if he thought he was biased, he wouldn't have accepted the assignment.

Ralston is being investigated for how he handled a case while also serving in the Georgia Legislature. Ralston has said he takes the allegations seriously.
