Cameron pleads guilty in 2013 Habersham murder

CLARKESVILLE - A man accused of shooting to death his younger brother in January 2013 entered a guilty plea in Habersham County Superior Court Monday.<br /> <br /> Christopher Nicholas Cameron, 29, entered the negotiated plea before Mountain Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Russell W. Smith.<br /> <br /> Cameron entered a guilty but mentally ill plea to the charge of felony murder. He will serve a life sentence with the possibility of parole in about 30 years.<br /> <br /> Under the plea, the malice murder and aggravated assault charges against Cameron were nolle prossed, meaning prosecutors agreed not to pursue them.<br /> <br /> Cameron, who initially represented himself, was represented in the plea by appointed attorney Ernest H. "Bucky" Woods III.<br /> <br /> Michael Cameron, 22, was shot twice in a bedroom at his parents' home near Cornelia around 1:25 in the afternoon on Jan. 18, 2013. He was airlifted, but died a short time later.
