GAINESVILLE - A motion for a mistrial was denied this afternoon in a Gainesville murder case.<br />
The trial for Joseph Scott Williams began on Monday. This afternoon, a motion for a mistrial was denied by Judge Jason Deal, according to Hall County Court Administrator Reggie Forrester.<br />
Willaims is accused in the June 3, 2013 shooting death of Adrian Thompson outside of Pepper's Market on E.E. Butler Parkway. The victim , Adrian Thompson, passed away at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center the same day as the shooting.<br />
Williams faces charges of murder, possession of a gun during the commission of a crime and possession of a gun by a convicted felon.<br />
The Supreme Court of Georgia (SCOGA) has unanimously upheld the murder conviction and life prison sentence given to Brenda O’Connell, who was 15 years old when she and her sister, Catherine O’Connell, were charged with killing their adoptive mother.
