Lakewood Baptist to honor military, veterans

GAINESVILLE - Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville will present its annual patriotic celebration Sunday, June 29, to honor the nation's military and veterans.<br /> <br /> Services will be held at 9:30 and 11:00 to salute active, reserve and retired members of the armed forces. Congressman Doug Collins (USAFR) is the keynote speaker.<br /> <br /> An orchestra and choir will present the military service anthems and an array of patriotic music numbers as branches of services are saluted.<br /> <br /> "Lakewood will sing and celebrate some things in America, pray about some things concerning America, all the while pointing folks to worship Jesus," says Lakewood's Bill Risinger.<br /> <br /> Lakewood's senior pastor, Dr. Tom Smiley, adds "This is a special day in which we give praise to God for all He has given, especially the blessing of a free country where we can worship Him without fear.
