COMMERCE - Details are emerging about Thursday morning's wreck on Georgia Highway 63 at Bennett Road in Banks County.

"It appears to be a head-on crash," said Sgt. G.R. Harper of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville.

Two people were trapped in the wreck, which was dispatched at 6:40 a.m.

Citing the GSP wreck report, Harper said physical evidence indicates an eastbound Chrysler 300 driven by 28-year-old David Ryan Tolbert of Toccoa crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a westbound Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by 20-year-old Jared Dakota Williams of Nicholson.

After impact, Tolbert's vehicle traveled some 100 feet off the south shoulder before striking a tree with the driver's side. Williams' car spun around and struck a guardrail.

Both Tolbert and Williams were injured, and were taken by ambulance to Athens Regional Medical Center.

A passenger in Williams' car, 28-year-old Jeffrey Williams, also was injured and was taken by ambulance.

"Charges are pending against Mr. Tolbert," Harper said.
