Man, 71, dies after falling into Augusta Canal

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) Authorities in Augusta are investigating the death of a 71-year-old man who fell into the Augusta Canal. <br /> <br /> Officials tell The Augusta Chronicle that George Young of Augusta fell into the canal Saturday morning. <br /> <br /> Richmond County sheriff's officials say deputies were called to the canal directly behind Enterprise Mill around 6:30 a.m. The Richmond County Dive Team retrieved the body about 7:52 a.m. <br /> <br /> Richmond County Chief Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose said Young was pronounced dead around 9 a.m. Saturday.
