NORCROSS, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after a man found his mother dead in a room inside her Norcross home where a fire had occurred.
Gwinnett County firefighters say the woman's son drove 17 hours from New York to check on her when he couldn't reach her by phone. The woman in her 50s was found Saturday night in a room where a fire had occurred earlier but had gone out.
The fire was contained to the bedroom where the woman was found.
Investigators couldn't immediately determine how the fire began or what caused the death of the woman.
Authorities did not immediately release the woman's identity. The investigation is ongoing.
