GAINESVILLE - Two people are in jail in connection with a late night shooting at Gainesville's City Park on Tuesday.

Police Cpl. Kevin Holbrook said Darrius Sullivan and Dakota Rash, both age 18 and both from Gainesville, are accused in the 10:30 p.m. incident in which Derrick Young suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

"At this time they've both been charged with armed robbery," said Holbrook. "It's believed that Darrius Sullivan is the shooter in the case and subsequently he does have an addition charge of aggravated assault."

Young was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment following the shooting. Holbrook said he underwent surgery and is expected to recover.

In addition to the arrests of Sullivan and Rash, Holbrook said police arrested Lynquavius Fortson, 17, and charged him with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute. Fortson was arrested the night of the shooting.

Holbrook emphasized that the shooting was not a random crime and the four apparently met at City Park for a specific purpose. He did not give details, citing the ongoing investigation.

Both Sullivan and Rash remained in the Hall County Jail without bond at last report.
