Tennis: All-Region 8-AAAA teams announced

The Lanier girls and Madison County and Stephens County boys dominated the Region 8-AAAA All-Region tennis awards, which were announced Tuesday.<br /> <br /> The awards were selected by region coaches.<br /> <br /> Lanier's Ana Rusch was named the girls Coach of the Year while Lady Longhorn Morgan Buchholz was named girls Player of the Year.<br /> <br /> Madison County's Keith Strickland was named the boys Coach of the Year. Austin Simmons of Stephens County was named the boysPlayer of the Year.<br /> <br /> For the girls, Maranda Dove of Madison County and Lanier's Lauren Byrd were named to All-Region girls singles 1st team. Zdena Janerova of Johnson, Victoria Inman of Lanier, and Shay Brackett of Lumpkin County were named to the singles 2nd team. Morgan Dooley and Abby Thrasher of Madison County and Kailin Huelsman and Sarah Whitworth of Stephens County were named to the singles Honorable Mention.<br /> <br /> Jenna Soucia and Carlie Overley of Lanier and Haley King and Grace Brown of Chestatee were named to the doubles 1st team. Kate Fitts and Claudia Head of Lumpkin County and Meg McRee and Lindsey Wong of Lanier of named to the doubles second team. Anna Crouse and Kassey Conner of Madison County and Emmy Jordan and Ellen Blockowitz of Eastside were named to the doubles Honorable Mention.<br /> <br /> For the boys, Preston Walter of Lanier and Ben Strickland of Madison County were named to the singles 1st team along with Simmons. Tyler Terell and Hank Sartain of Madison County and Kevin Wagner of Lanier were named to the singles 2nd team. Steven Whitworth and Faite Chatham of Stephens County, Lanier's Kyle Galloway, and Justin Wagstaff of Eastside were named to the singles Honorable Mention.<br /> <br /> In the doubles, the Adam and Ben Sartain and Koti Nguyen and Hayden Colquitt teams from Madison County were named to the doubles 1st team. Evan Bafile and Johnathan Gilreath of Lumpkin County and Hojun Lee and Armin Zmajevac of Lanier were named to the doubles second team. The Lanier team of Derik Sadowski and Paul Seo were named doubles Honorable Mention.
