Karen Handel to endorse Kingston for US Senate

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA (AP) Karen Handel will endorse U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston in Georgia's Republican U.S. Senate primary runoff.

Kingston's campaign confirmed to The Associated Press that the two former rivals will appear Wednesday to announce her choice in the July 22 runoff between Kingston and businessman David Perdue.

Handel finished third in the May 20 primary.

Her endorsement gives Kingston another nod from the tea party wing of the party after he's already gotten the nod from conservative radio host Erik Erickson, who previously backed Handel. Kingston also has an endorsement from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The Republican nominee will face Democratic nominee Michelle Nunn on Nov. 4. The general election will help determine which party controls the Senate for the final two years of President Barack Obama's administration.
