Milwaukee's Gomez visits child struck by foul ball in Atlanta

By The Associated Press
ATLANTA -- Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Carlos Gomez has visited the child who was hospitalized after being struck in the head by a foul ball at Turner Field.

The boy, who has not been identified, was sitting behind Atlanta's first-base dugout Tuesday night when he was struck by Gomez's liner in the seventh inning. Gomez looked toward the stands with concern, while Braves pitcher Julio Teheran crouched on the mound and grimaced. The boy was hustled out of the stadium and later was transported to a hospital.

Gomez wrote on Twitter that he visited the boy Wednesday and "he was in great spirits." Gomez also signed the ball that struck the child.

The Braves said the victim was "conscious and talkative" after the incident. The team released an additional statement saying the family requested privacy.
