Clarks Bridge Olympic Venue set for Collegiate Championships

By staff reports
GAINESVILLE -- The American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) National Championship Regatta will be held for the fourth year in a row May 24-25 at the Clarks Bridge Olympic venue in Gainesville.

Collegiate rowing teams from over 56 institutions, represented by over 1,600 athletes from all over the nation will compete for honors in individual events as well as overall team trophies.

The event, which is hosted by the Lake Lanier Rowing Club, is free to all spectators. The parking fee is $10.

ACRA membership is made up of university and college club rowing teams, and junior college and community college teams (both men and women) that are not eligible through their institutions' athletic department for the NCAA or IRA Championship.

The LLRC was founded in 1993 to provide opportunities for the community to be able to come together and enjoy the sport of rowing. After the Olympics were held on Lake Lanier in 1996, the rowing club leased the facility used for the Olympics to house its programs. This great opportunity also came with an important responsibility

Kiffin shining again after season of redemption
Lane Kiffin was modest in his goals and complimentary about the team he'll be facing in the Sugar Bowl. He went on and on about how much he's learned from Nick Saban, while insisting it's no big deal when his boss yells at him. Very un-Kiffin-like, you might say.
