Piedmont softball falls to Emory in regional final

By staff reports
ATLANTA -- The Piedmont College softball team took a first inning lead but saw Emory University put up four runs in the fourth to pull away for a 6-1 win on championship Sunday in the Atlanta Regional of the NCAA National Tournament.

Piedmont finished its 2014 campaign with the loss eliminated from NCAA championship play after a 43-8 overall record that included a USA South Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championship, the first program to earn both crowns in the same season since Piedmont became a USA South member last year.
