GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Public Utilities Department will host an Open House
Friday, May 9 from Noon-4:00 at the Riverside Water Treatment Plant in
celebration of National Drinking Water Week.
Guests will be treated to tours and information on the amount of water that runs through the plant and how it's treated.
The plant treats an average of 12 million gallons of water per day. The City of Gainesville serves more than 50,000 water accounts in Gainesville and Hall County.
A bill that would levy an annual $5,000 on strip clubs and fine pimps $2,500 to set up a fund for sexually exploited children is scheduled to be signed into law Tuesday by Gov. Nathan Deal, topping off what some legislators are calling the ``year of the child'' in the 2015 General Assembly.
At the National Association of School Resource Officer annual NASRO National Conference in Orlando, Florida this summer, Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch and Hall County School Superintendent Will Schofield will be presented with the Regional Exceptional Service Award.
