Tennis: Chestatee boys fall in first round to Marist

By staff reports
ATLANTA -- It was a short stay in the Class AAAA state tennis playoffs for the Chestatee boys Wednesday.

The War Eagles fell 3-0 to perennial powerhouse Marist in the first round on the road. Marist won at No. 2 doubles and in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches.

Despite the quick exit, Chestatee advanced to its second straight playoffs in what what was considered a rebuilding year after losing five seniors off of last year's team.

The future looks bright for Chestatee, which returns juniors Reed Johnson, Austin Passmore, Juan Carrion, Tyler Burgess, Logan Gruenenfelder and Ethan Kapiloff, along with sophomore Hasten Haynes and promising freshman Barron King, from the starting lineup.
