Nearly an inch of rain recorded in Gainesville Friday

GAINESVILLE - A wet 24 hours in north Georgia with windy conditions was drawing to a close Saturday morning with nearly an inch of rain recorded in Gainesville.

The gauge at Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville recorded 0.81 inches of rain Friday. Only 0.04 inches had fallen Saturday.

Rainfall for the area is under the annual average so far, but above average for the month.

The latest rain brings the total for the month to just over five inches. The month to date average is just over two inches.

The level of Lake Lanier Saturday morning, by the way, was 1071.96.

The WDUN/Accuweather forecast for the remainder of the Easter weekend did not include predictions for any further rain after Saturday morning.
