FLOWERY BRANCH -- There will be a distinctly green tint to the Region 7-AAA tennis championships.
That's because the North Hall boys and girls and the Buford boys and girls will face each other for the title, starting with the girls championship match at 4 p.m. Thursday at the Bobby Bailey Tennis Center in Flowery Branch.
The Wolves entered as the No. 1 seed in both brackets, while North Hall was No. 2 in both brackets and each cruised to the championship, each team winning two matches 3-0, 3-0.
In round one, the Trojans swept West Hal, including wins came at No. 2 singles from Jackson Davis 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 doubles from Matt Booth and Paxton Gillespie, 6-0, 6-0, and at No. 2 doubles from Houston Smith and Josh Tu -- the pair playing in their first region tournament match -- 6-1 6-1.
The Trojans (16-3) then took out White County in the semifinals, including wins for Davis 6-1, 6-2, No. 3 singles player Dalton Patterson, 6-2, 6-2, and for No. 2 doubles players Dawson Smith and Reid Lattanzi, 6-3, 6-3.
Meanwhile, the Lady Trojans swept Fannin County (3-0) and Banks County (3-0).
North Hall's girls will play Buford at 4 p.m., with the boys to follow at approximately 5:30 p.m.
