Gauldin wins again, pads NeSmith Chevrolet WRS points lead

CARTERSVILLE - Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL continues to hold command of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings after driving the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT to his second straight win on Saturday night in Week 3 action at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Gauldin has 149 points after two wins and a second-place finish in his first three races.

Gauldin has a six-point lead in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings over Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS and Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN, who are tied for the second spot in the points chase with 143 points apiece.

Bridgmon finished fourth on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the Robinson Electric Supply Special, and has one win and three top five finishes in three races. Cooper drove the Ronnie Cooper Trucking Rocket to second-place on Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL. Copper has three top five finishes in three races.

Casey Haney of Meridian, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 141 points after a second-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in the Sinclair Auto Sales Rocket. In his first three races, Haney has two top five finishes and three top ten finishes.

Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS is fifth with 139 points after one win, two top five finishes and three top ten finishes in his first three NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series races of the 2014 season. Thrash drove the McDevitt Enterprises GRT to a fifth-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.

Caleb Coan of Moulton, AL is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 137 points after finishing third on Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway driving the Buttram Snacks Special. Coan has two top five finishes and three top ten finishes in three races.

Mike Combs of Odenville, AL finished fifth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in the Pro Grafx Special and is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 135 points. Combs has one top five finish and two top ten finishes in three starts.

Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS has run the most NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series races so far this season with four starts, and is eighth in the standings with 131 points after one top five finish and two top ten finishes driving the Permanent Exterior Solutions Trak-Star. Sanchagrin's best Week 3 finish was an eighth-place effort on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS.

Octogenarian Red Farmer of Hueytown, AL and Trey Wood of Newman, GA are tied for the ninth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 130 points apiece. Farmer drove the Long-Lewis Ford Special to a third-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track and Wood finished ninth in the same event driving the Wood Motorsports Warrior.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 3 action, Richie Beasley of Hattiesburg, MS drove the Beasley Racing Special to victory on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway. Adam Beeler of Knoxville, TN took the $1,000 win on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the Mighty Muffler and Brakes CVR.

Heath Minor of Bremen, AL was the winner on Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL driving the Minor Racing Special. Justin McRee of Woodstock, AL drove the High Roller Race Cars Special to victory on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.

The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS showed the competition he is looking for his second-straight $10,000 title by winning on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA driving the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star. Greg Holley of Highlands, TX took his second straight win on Saturday night at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX driving the Holley Racing Special.

After the first three weeks of competition, Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV leads the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge point standings with 4 wins. Three-time Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is second with three wins.

Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN, CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN, and the defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL are all tied for the third spot with one win apiece. TNT Race Car of Piney Flats, TN is still looking for their first win.
