Dragon Boat Challenge to benefit 'Special Olympics Hall County'

By Ken Stanford Reporter
GAINESVILLE - Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club (LCKC) will play host to the first-ever Gainesville/Hall Dragon Boat Challenge (GHDBC) June 7. The event will benefit the Hall County chapter of Special Olympics Georgia.

Dragon Boat racing is the second-most popular participation activity in the world behind soccer. The GHBDC is designed for businesses, schools/school systems, government agencies, churches and neighborhood associations to assemble teams and "challenge" other "like" groups.

Teams will compete in distances of 200 meters, 100 meters, and an optional 1,000-meter race in a looped course.
