Wrecks result in traffic, power woes in south Hall

By Derreck Booth Anchor/reporter
FLOWERY BRANCH - A couple of traffic accidents on Spout Springs Road in South Hall County were causing some travel headaches Tuesday afternoon, one resulting in a power outage.

Hall County emergency dispatchers confirmed the accidents were at Dove Point Lane and Deaton Henry Road. Both calls came in prior to 3:00 p.m.

The intersections are approximately a mile apart.

Jackson EMC spokeswoman Bonnie Jones said the crash at Dove Point Lane resulted in two broken power poles and downed lines.

"When you have a broken pole...a broken pole takes the longest of anything we have to fix," Jones said.

Jones said the power outage affected about 4300 customers. Jackson EMC was able to restore power to 1200 of the effected customer by 4p.m., but no estimate was given regarding those still without service.

Jones advised anyone encountering downed wires or equipment to stay a safe distance away.

There's no word on injuries or other details related to the actual wrecks.
