Etowah River reaches flood stage in Dawson, Forsyth

By Staff
DAWSONVILLE - Parts of Dawson County have already recorded more than four inches of rain today, and that's making for some hazardous conditions along parts of the Etowah River.

At 2 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the Etowah River. Flood stage is 13-feet for the river, and weather officials said the level has already reached that depth. They predict the river could rise as high at 13.2 feet by early evening.

The river is expected to fall below flood stage later Monday night.

Authorities warn that once flood stage is reached, minor flooding begins in south
Dawson County. Minor flooding occurs on Nicholson Road in northwest
Forsyth County and water will be around one foot deep on the road.
