Baseball: Dragons offense explodes in sweep of Washington-Wilkes

JEFFERSON -- Jefferson routed Washington-Wilkes in Region 8-AA action Friday taking a pair of 11-0 wins at home.

Max Ford got the win in Game 1 allowing just two hits in five innings while striking out seven.

Trent Sorrells belted a two-run home run in a three-run third and Ford put the finishing touches on the win with a two-run double to cap a six-run fifth inning to invoke the Mercy Rule.

Ethan Garner got the win in Game 2 yielding just one hit in five innings and striking out seven.

The Dragons pounded out 13 hits, including nine doubles and two triples, for the game. Jake Franklin had three doubles, Hanon Price two doubles, and Christian Hutch, Max Ford, and Alex Gaba each had one double. Micah Carpenter had a double and a triple and Trent Sorrells had one triple for Jefferson.

Jefferson (163, 10-0 Region 8-AA) next will play host to Union County on Tuesday.
