Officer shoots, kills suspect in Lawrenceville

By The Associated Press
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. (AP) Police in Gwinnett County are investigating after an officer shot and killed a suspect.

Gwinnett County police say the officer was somehow wounded in the Wednesday morning encounter. WSB-TV reports that the officer was initially unconscious, but was later conscious and alert at Gwinnett Medical Center.

Two officers were called to the Sweetwater apartments in Lawrenceville to check out a report of a suspicious vehicle around 1 a.m. Wednesday. Police said one officer chased and apprehended a woman who ran from the vehicle. The other officer chased two men.

Police said the officer who apprehended the woman then found the other officer on the ground, with one of the men standing over him.

Shots were fired, killing one of the male suspects.

Few other details were immediately available.
