ATHENS, Ga. (AP) Athens-Clarke County police say a man accused of beating a teenage boy who took a shower with his stepdaughter is facing several charges.
Police say 49-year-old Clinton Antonio Ward told investigators he came home, heard his 16-year-old stepdaughter in the shower and also heard a male voice coming from the bathroom.
Authorities say Ward was sitting on his couch when she and her naked 16-year-old boyfriend emerged from the restroom. Police say he pushed the teen into a wall and punched him in his face and chest before telling him to leave.
The Athens Banner-Herald reports Ward is charged with battery, cruelty to children and assault.
Ward declined to comment on the case Thursday evening, but said he has retained an attorney.
The Lumpkin County Board of Commissioners (BOC) recently signed a Settlement Agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), five years after an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) audit of county facilities.
