GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville-Hall '96 Board of Directors has named Morgan House as Manager of the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue.

Board Chairwoman Mimi Collins introduced House to the Gainesville City Council at their Thursday morning work session. The city owns the venue.

House is a Gainesville native who spent 18 years as a competitor and coach with the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club.

He was a successful competitor at world class events, competing in ten countries.

"My belief is that the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club and the Lake Lanier Rowing Club can be stronger and have a larger impact on the success of the venue if the two clubs are more closely aligned," said House.

"Together we can preserve the legacy of the 1996 Olympics and put the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue on the map both regionally and globally."

House previously served as District Executive for the Boy Scouts of America.

He added, "My passion for the venue is ever growing when I look at the life changing programs that both the Kayak and Rowing Clubs have to offer."
