Football: Lanier Area Touchdown Club to help promote prep teams/standouts

By staff
A new organization is taking shape to help promote and recognize the area's outstanding prep football talent.

The Lanier Area Touchdown Club will include 14 member schools and is based in Hall County, though it will include a number of programs outside the borders of Hall.

Member schools are: Banks County, Chestatee, Dawson County, East Hall, Flowery Branch, Gainesville, Habersham Central, Johnson, Lakeview Academy, Lumpkin County, North Hall, Riverside Military Academy, West Hall and White County.

The Lanier Area Touchdown Club will honor area standouts with Players of the Month awards -- in which every member head coach will nominate up to four players. The first two Player of the Month awards meetings have already been scheduled for Monday, Sept. 29 and Monday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at Johnson High.

The Club will also put together postseason All-Area teams and All-Stars to be honored at an end of season awards banquet.
