By The Associated Press
BUCHANAN, Ga. (AP) -- Authorities are investigating a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a school bus in west Georgia that injured several student and both drivers.

The Georgia State Patrol says the crash happened Thursday morning on Highway 120 in Haralson County between the cities of Buchanan and Tallapoosa. Troopers say the pickup truck crossed the center line and struck the bus head-on.

The State Patrol says the driver of the truck - a 17-year-old girl - was airlifted to an Atlanta hospital with serious injuries. The agency said the bus driver and approximately five children riding the bus were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries.

The highway was expected to remain closed for several hours Thursday as troopers investigated the crash.
