By Marc Eggers Anchor / Reporter
WINDER - The City of Winder has named Jim Fullington as their the new Police Chief. Jim has been with the city since January 2013 as the Operations Commander and was named the Interim Police Chief on December 2, 2013.

"I appreciate the support and confidence of the Mayor, council and city leadership. I am honored to be appointed as the Chief of the Winder Police department and do not take the position lightly." says Chief Jim Fullington. "I believe first and foremost, that police officers are public servants and are tasked with helping make the community a better and safe place by preventing and solving crime. I also have a community oriented policing mindset and strongly believe that we must build relationships with the citizens, businesses and the community to make Winder a better and safe place to live and work. I look forward to leading the Winder Police department in becoming one of most professional departments in the state."

Fullington graduated from UGA with a degree in Criminal Justice. He then went on to work for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation where he retired after 27 years as a Special Agent in charge for the Athens Regional office. He also later obtained a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University.

"The City of Winder received applications from several great candidates for the position of Chief of Police and after the interview process the committee recognized Jim Fullington as our top choice for the job." said City Administrator Don Toms." We feel as though Chief Fullington's vision for where the Winder police department is heading aligns with the Mayor and Councils goals and expectations for the department."
