Soccer: Gainesville girls win in a penalty shootout

The Gainesville girls soccer team won in penalty kicks on Friday night in Apalachee.

The score was 1-1 at the end of regulation.

Margaret Carpenter scored for the Lady Red Elephants (8-0-1 and 3-0 in 8-AAAAA).

In penalty kicks Anna Youmans, Margaret Carpenter and Liz Fischer each converted spot kicks.

Keeper Ashlie Gonzalez had three saves in the 3-1 shoot out win.

Gainesville plays again Tuesday at Cedar Shoals at 5:30 p.m.
